About

A picture of a caucasian person with brown hair, green eyes, and glasses hugging a white, grey, and black merle dog.

A. Blackington was born in Texas, in the summer of 1996. The youngest of five children—having two half-siblings from both their mother and father—they grew up surrounded by a blend of generational culture. Having moved to Ohio at a young age, A. spent their early years living a sheltered life that was defined by their love of nature, art, and animals. Upon returning to Texas at the age of nine, they experienced several years that inevitably resulted in a significant shift in personal identity and self-awareness.Drawing and video gaming became safe havens for A. that continued into their adulthood. Upon their acceptance into Texas Woman’s University, A. quickly realized that the Visual Arts were a better fit than their original plan of Biology, shifting from Biology, to Graphic Design, and finally Painting/Drawing within their first year at the university. It was there that A. fell in love with the acrylic medium for its versatility, accessibility, and texturally pleasing nature. Painting became a refuge from trauma, with A. creating multiple series’ over mental illness, introspection, self-harm, and interpersonal connections. Crediting art and video games with saving their life, A. aspires to one day become a gaming or tabletop RPG artist, in the hopes of inspiring other downtrodden youths to live their truth.Receiving their BFA in Painting/Drawing at Texas Woman’s University in 2018, A. began experimenting with digital art, inspired by the gaming and roleplay communities, and now does freelance commission work in their spare time, using both acrylic and digital mediums.A. currently works near Mansfield, Texas.
